A Long-Snouted Protorosaur from the Middle Triassic of Southern China
@inproceedings{Fraser2012ALP, title={A Long-Snouted Protorosaur from the Middle Triassic of Southern China}, author={Nicholas C. Fraser and Olivier Rieppel and Li(李淳) Chun}, year={2012} }
ABSTRACT
A new protorosaur is described on the basis of a single specimen from the Ladinian of southern China. Although it has been greatly crushed, it still preserves clear details of the skull and axial skeleton. It possesses a neck that is longer than the trunk and is similar to tanystropheids in having 12 or 13 cervicals. Unusual among protorosaurs, the new form has an elongate snout. It also lacks a clear thyroid fenestra, although there is a slight separation of the pubis and ischium…

A taxonomic revision of the genus Tanystropheus (Archosauromorpha, Tanystropheidae)
- BiologyPalaeontologia Electronica
- 2019
A complete overview of the taxonomic history and a revision of the Tanystropheus genus is provided based on first hand observations of the type material of most of the species and it is concluded that T. conspicuus and T. haasi should be considered nomina dubia and thatT.
A new phylogenetic hypothesis of Tanystropheidae (Diapsida, Archosauromorpha) and other “protorosaurs”, and its implications for the early evolution of stem archosaurs
- Environmental Science, BiologyPeerJ
- 2021
The polyphyly of “Protorosauria” is confirmed and therefore the usage of this term should be abandoned and a new phylogenetic hypothesis is presented that comprises a wide range of archosauromorphs, including the most exhaustive sample of ”protorosaurs” to date and several “protorosaur” taxa from the eastern Tethys margin that have not been included in any previous analysis.
Lunge feeding in early marine reptiles and fast evolution of marine tetrapod feeding guilds
- Environmental Science, GeographyScientific reports
- 2015
It is reported that the evolution of marine predator feeding guilds, and their trophic structure, proceeded faster than expected after the end-Permian extinction, and a simple recovery to a Permian-like trophics does not explain the biotic changes seen after the Early Triassic.
The rise of the ruling reptiles and ecosystem recovery from the Permo-Triassic mass extinction
- Environmental Science, GeographyProceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences

This results indicate the following sequence of diversification: a morphologically conservative and globally distributed post-extinction ‘disaster fauna’; a major but cryptic and poorly sampled phylogenetic diversification with significantly elevated evolutionary rates; and a marked increase in species counts, abundance, and disparity contemporaneous with global ecosystem stabilization some 5 million years after the extinction.
