A Late Triassic chimaeroid egg capsule from the South Island of New Zealand is described as Chimaerotheca reperepe, a new ichnospecies. The fossil egg capsule is preserved as a positive impression on a block of very fine sandstone from the Murihiku Terrane of the South Island, which is dated as Warepan or Otapirian in the local New Zealand stage system, equivalent to late Norian or Rhaetian internationally. The egg capsule impression is spindle-shaped and consists of a narrow flask-like central…
TWO CHIMAEROID EGG CASE REMAINS FROM THE LATE CRETACEOUS, MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK, COLORADO, USA
In 2015, two fossil chimaeroid egg cases preserved as external molds were identified from the coastal facies of the middle Campanian (Late Cretaceous) Cliff House Sandstone at the top of the
A New Callorhinchid Genus (Holocephali, Chimaeroidei) from the Early Bajocian of Ottange-Rumelange, on the Luxembourg-French Border
TLDR
An incomplete chimaeroid mandibular dental plate from the early Bajocian of Ottange-Rumelange is described as a new genus and species of callorhinchid fish Ottangodus lotharingiae gen. et sp.
An Early Triassic basal actinopterygian fish (Osteichthyes) from D'Urville Island, New Zealand
A small partial actinopterygian (ray-finned) fish from the Lower Triassic Greville Formation of D'Urville Island is reported as the first formally noted and described Triassic actinopterygian from

FOSSIL EGG CAPSULES OF CHIMAEROID FISHES
TO the three previously reported fossil egg capsules of chimaeroid fishes this paper adds five specimens and assigns all to Chimaerotheca, new form genus. Chimaerotheca germanica and C. besselsi are
EDAPHODON KAWAI, SP. NOV. (CHONDRICHTHYES: HOLOCEPHALI): A LATE CRETACEOUS CHIMAEROID FROM THE CHATHAM ISLANDS, SOUTHWEST PACIFIC
Abstract Chimaeroid (Chondrichthyes: Holocephali) mandibular toothplates of Edaphodon kawai, sp. nov., are described from the Cretaceous-Paleogene Takatika Grit of Chatham Islands, New Zealand. This
Egg capsule morphology provides new information about the interrelationships of chondrichthyan fishes
TLDR
An analysis of all extant and currently known fossil chondrichthyan egg capsule types indicates that the enigmatic Carboniferous egg capsule morphotypes Crookallia and Vetacapsula form a monophyletic group together with the egg capsules morphotype of chimaerid holocephalans, and that the elasmobranch egg capsule Morphotypes are sister to the holocephalan types.
Evolutionary origin and phylogeny of the modern holocephalans (Chondrichthyes: Chimaeriformes): a mitogenomic perspective.
TLDR
The timetree derived from a relaxed molecular clock Bayesian method suggests that the holocephalans originated in the Silurian about 420 Ma, having survived from the end-Permian mass extinction and undergoing familial diversifications during the late Jurassic to early Cretaceous (170-120 Ma).
Fossil chimaera egg capsules
A new species of chimaeroid egg capsule, Rhinochimaera caucasica, from strata in the North Caucasus tentatively identified as of Lower Cretaceous age, is described. A summary review of the 31 known

Skull and brain of a 300-million-year-old chimaeroid fish revealed by synchrotron holotomography
TLDR
Iniopterygian skulls found preserved in 3 dimensions in ≈300-Myr-old concretions from Oklahoma and Kansas are reported, suggesting that the key chimaeroid skull features were already established 300 Myr ago.

Triassic chimaeroid egg capsules from the Connecticut Valley
TO the recently described chimaeroid egg capsules a new species Chimaerotheca oakesi is added, and its relation to the shark-like fish Carinacanthus jepseni Bryant is discussed. The ecological and

Abstract A single fossil element from Titiroa Stream, Southland, probably represents a partial clavicle of a roughly 2‐m‐long member of the Stereospondyli (Amphibia). The fossil is from shallow
