The Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus produces a 1077 nucleotide noncoding, polyadenylated, exclusively nuclear RNA called PAN that is highly expressed in lytically infected cells. We report that PAN contains a novel post-transcriptional element essential for its abundant accumulation.
