The efficient planning and operation of power distribution systems are becoming increasingly significant with the integration of renewable energy options into power distribution networks. Keeping voltage magnitudes within permissible ranges is vital; hence, control devices, such as tap changers, voltage regulators, and capacitors, are used in power distribution systems. This study presents an optimization model that is based on three heuristic approaches, namely, particle swarm optimization…

Comparative Simulation Analysis of the Performance of the Logistics Manufacturing System at the Operative Level
The article focuses on one of the current problems of manufacturing systems which consist of individual machines equipped with dedicated tools that are replaced when they are worn out and creates a simulation model for which, based on the analysis of simulation results, patterns of possible use in specific types of enterprises are given.
Medical model estimation with particle swarm optimization
The particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique, which is an e-ective technique to predict optimum parameters of the biomedical model, has been used and the PSO results appear to be slightly better than that of other methods.

Derivative-free optimization: a review of algorithms and comparison of software implementations
It is found that the ability of all these solvers to obtain good solutions diminishes with increasing problem size, and TomLAB/MULTIMIN, TOMLAB/GLCCLUSTER, MCS and TOMLab/LGO are better, on average, than other derivative-free solvers in terms of solution quality within 2,500 function evaluations.
A New Heuristic Optimization Algorithm: Harmony Search
A new heuristic algorithm, mimicking the improvisation of music players, has been developed and named Harmony Search (HS), which is illustrated with a traveling salesman problem (TSP), a specific academic optimization problem, and a least-cost pipe network design problem.
This paper describes the results of the EPRI Green Circuits and Load Modelling Initiatives and other individual utility tests to develop industry wide calculation procedures and model libraries. The
Data clustering using particle swarm optimization
This paper proposes two new approaches to using PSO to cluster data, one which basically usesPSO to refine the clusters formed by K-means, and the other which uses PSO in a different way to seed the initial swarm.
Imperialist competitive algorithm: An algorithm for optimization inspired by imperialistic competition
Applying the proposed algorithm for optimization inspired by the imperialistic competition to some of benchmark cost functions shows its ability in dealing with different types of optimization problems.
