We present an analysis of new and archival Very Large Array H I observations of a sample of 11 early-type galaxies rich in CO, with detailed comparisons of CO and H I distributions and kinematics. The early-type sample consists of both lenticular and elliptical galaxies in a variety of environments. A range of morphologies and environments were selected in order to give a broader understanding of the origins, distribution, and fate of the cold gas in early-type galaxies. Six of the eleven…
Cold gas in a complete sample of group-dominant early-type galaxies
We present IRAM 30 m and APEX telescope observations of CO(1-0) and CO(2-1) lines in 36 group-dominant early-type galaxies, completing our molecular gas survey of dominant galaxies in the Complete
THE SCATTER IN THE HOT GAS CONTENT OF EARLY-TYPE GALAXIES
Optically similar early-type galaxies are observed to have a large and poorly understood range in the amount of hot, X-ray-emitting gas they contain. To investigate the origin of this diversity, we
The ATLAS3D project - XXVII. Cold gas and the colours and ages of early-type galaxies
We present a study of the cold gas contents of the ATLAS^(3D) early-type galaxies, in the context of their optical colours, near-ultraviolet colours and Hβ absorption line strengths. Early-type
Observations of hydroxyl in early-type galaxies
We used Arecibo Observatory and the Green Bank Telescope to observe OH in twelve early type galaxies with known reservoirs of dense gas. We present three new detections of OH in absorption in the
HIGH-RESOLUTION H I DISTRIBUTIONS AND MULTI-WAVELENGTH ANALYSES OF MAGELLANIC SPIRALS NGC 4618 AND NGC 4625
We present a detailed analysis of high-resolution H I observations of the Magellanic spiral galaxies NGC 4618 and NGC 4625. While the H I disk of NGC 4625 is remarkably quiescent with a nearly
The diversity of atomic hydrogen in slow rotator early-type galaxies
We present interferometric observations of HI in nine slow rotator early-type galaxies of the Atlas3D sample. With these data, we now have sensitive HI searches in 34 of the 36 slow rotators. The
Hot gaseous atmospheres of rotating galaxies observed with XMM–Newton
X-ray emitting atmospheres of non-rotating early-type galaxies and their connection to central active galactic nuclei have been thoroughly studied over the years. However, in systems with significant
Giant molecular clouds in the early-type galaxy ngc 4526
We present a high spatial resolution (≈20 pc) of 12CO(2 −1) observations of the lenticular galaxy NGC 4526. We identify 103 resolved giant molecular clouds (GMCs) and measure their properties: size
EARLY-TYPE GALAXIES AT INTERMEDIATE REDSHIFT OBSERVED WITH HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE WFC3: PERSPECTIVES ON RECENT STAR FORMATION
We present an analysis of the stellar populations of 102 visually selected early-type galaxies (ETGs) with spectroscopic redshifts (0.35 ≲ z ≲ 1.5) from observations in the Early Release Science
How Galactic Environment Affects the Dynamical State of Molecular Clouds and Their Star Formation Efficiency
We investigate how the dynamical state of molecular clouds relates to host galaxy environment, and how this impacts the star formation efficiency in the Milky Way and seven nearby galaxies. We

Molecular gas and star formation in the SAURON early-type galaxies
We present the results of a survey of CO emission in 43 of the 48 representative E/S0 galaxies observed in the optical with the SAURON integral-field spectrograph. The CO detection rate is 12/43 or
Extended, regular HI structures around early-type galaxies
Abstract: We discuss the morphology and kinematics of the HI of a sample of 30 southern gas-rich early-type galaxies selected from the HI Parkes All-Sky Survey (HIPASS). This is the largest
H I in Four Star-forming Low-Luminosity E/S0 and S0 Galaxies*
We present H I data cubes of four low-luminosity early-type (E/S0 and S0) galaxies that are currently forming stars. These galaxies have absolute magnitudes in the range MB = -17.9 to -19.9 (H0 = 50
The Cool ISM in S0 Galaxies. II. A Survey of Atomic Gas
The place of lenticular galaxies within the range of types of galaxies remains unclear. We previously reported the mass of molecular hydrogen for a volume-limited sample of lenticular galaxies, where
The H I distribution and kinematics in four low-luminosity elliptical galaxies
The neutral hydrogen distribution in four low-luminosity elliptical galaxies was imaged using the VLA, and B and V CCD images were obtained to determine their luminosity profiles. The brighter two of
The ATLAS3D project - XIII. Mass and morphology of H I in early-type galaxies as a function of environment
We present the ATLAS3D H i survey of a volume-limited, complete sample of 166 nearby early-type galaxies (ETGs) brighter than MK=-21.5. The survey is mostly based on data taken with the Westerbork
Mid- to Far-IR Emission and Star Formation in Early-Type Galaxies
Many early-type galaxies have been detected at wavelengths of 24 to 160 micron, but the emission is usually dominated by heating from an AGN or from the evolved stellar population. Here we present
Radio Continuum and Star Formation in CO-rich Early-Type Galaxies
In this paper we present new high-resolution Very Large Array 1.4 GHz radio continuum observations of five FIR-bright CO-rich early-type galaxies and two dwarf early-type galaxies. The position on
The Hi content of early-type galaxies from the ALFALFA survey - II. The case of low density environments
Aims. We present the analysis of the Hi content of a sample of early-type galaxies (ETGs) in low-density environments (LDEs) using the data set provided by the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA (ALFALFA)
The ATLAS3D project - X. On the origin of the molecular and ionized gas in early-type galaxies
We make use of interferometric CO and HI observations, and optical integral-field spectroscopy from the ATLAS 3D survey to probe the origin of the molecular and ionised interstellar medium (ISM) in
