France's HIV treatment expenditures, the highest in Europe and second only to the United States, have created evidence of the real-life cost-effectiveness of triple combination antiretroviral therapy. The French have demonstrated that savings in treatment costs can be obtained with early and intensive antiretroviral therapy.
