Occupant presence data—a record of where, when, and by whom a building is occupied—can be an asset in managing energy consumption in commercial buildings. Commercial buildings could be more energy efficient if occupant presence data are better integrated into energy management practices to ensure that systems are off or throttled back when spaces are unoccupied or have fewer occupants.
