We carried out a survey of low-surface-brightness companions around nine luminous Local Volume galaxies using long exposures with small amateur telescopes. We found 12 lowand very low-surface-brightness objects around the galaxies: NGC 628, NGC 2337, NGC 3368, NGC 3521, NGC 4236, NGC 4258, NGC 4594, NGC 5055, and NGC 6744 situated within 12 Mpc from us. Assuming the dwarf candidates are satellites of the neighbouring massive galaxies, their absolute B magnitudes are in the range of [-8.9, -13.0…

New dwarf galaxy candidates in the Leo-I Group
We have carried out a search for low-surface-brightness dwarf galaxies in the region of the Leo-I Group (M96) in images of the second Palomar Sky Survey. We found a total of 36 likely dwarf members
A SURVEY OF SATELLITE GALAXIES AROUND NGC 4258
We conduct a survey of satellite galaxies around the nearby spiral NGC 4258 by combining spectroscopic observations from the Apache Point Observatory 3.5 m telescope with Sloan Digital Sky Survey
DISCOVERY OF NEW DWARF GALAXIES IN THE M81 GROUP
An order of magnitude more dwarf galaxies are expected to inhabit the Local Group, based on currently accepted galaxy formation models, than have been observed. This discrepancy has been noted in
New probable dwarf galaxies in northern groups of the Local Supercluster
We have searched for nearby dwarf galaxies in 27 northern groups with characteristic distances 8–15 Mpc based on the Second Palomar Sky Survey prints. In a total area of about 2000 square degrees, we
A supplementary list of southern nearby dwarf galaxy candidates
To improve the census of the Local Volume galaxies, we carried out a systematic search for nearby dwarf galaxies in a declination range of based on the ESO/SERC film copies. As a result, we present a
A list of new nearby dwarf galaxy candidates
To increase completeness of the distance limited sample of nearby galaxies from the the Kraan-Korteweg & Tammann (1979) catalogue we undertook a search for small companions of larger known galaxies
DISCOVERY OF A STELLAR TIDAL STREAM AROUND THE WHALE GALAXY, NGC 4631
We report the discovery of a giant stellar tidal stream in the halo of NGC 4631, a nearby edge-on spiral galaxy interacting with the spiral NGC 4656, in deep images taken with a 40 cm aperture
UPDATED NEARBY GALAXY CATALOG
We present an all-sky catalog of 869 nearby galaxies having individual distance estimates within 11 Mpc or corrected radial velocities VLG < 600 km s−1. The catalog is a renewed and expanded version
Stellar Tidal Streams in Spiral Galaxies of the Local Volume: A Pilot Survey with Modest Aperture Telescopes
Within the hierarchical framework for galaxy formation, minor merging and tidal interactions are expected to shape all large galaxies to the present day. As a consequence, most seemingly normal disk
Population studies in groups and clusters of galaxies. III. A catalog of galaxies in five nearby groups
Five nearby groups of galaxies have been surveyed using large-scale plates from the 2.5 m duPont Telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. Catalogs of galaxies brighter than B(T) = 20 are presented for
