A double detector (DD) for radio-frequency interference (RFI) in microwave radiometers is demonstrated in theory and practice. The detector is based on the principle of using kurtosis to detect the presence of non-Gaussian signals and is shown to approximate the kurtosis of input. Theoretical response to continuous wave and pulsed RFI is derived and tested in two experiments.
