Actions based solely on belief or ideology risk being actively or--perhaps worse--passively resisted by those who do not share the ideology. Adopting a "stay the course" approach in the face of changing public opinion and even multistate legislation will eventually cause the public to simply tune out its leaders. In like fashion, even nagging mothers eventually get tuned out. Or, to draw on my own experience, when the cafeteria lady made 8-year-old me sit at the table until I ate my spinach… CONTINUE READING
