This paper proposes a direct ac-ac converter to generate a high-frequency current for inductive power-transfer (IPT) systems. Unlike traditional dc-ac converters for IPT systems, the proposed converter can achieve a high-frequency current generation directly from an ac power source without a dc link. The power converter can maintain high-frequency resonance by natural circuit oscillation and discrete energy injection control.
