This paper presents a tunable CMOS directional coupler that utilizes lumped-element L-C sections. The lumped-element approach used to build the directional coupler makes it possible to integrate the coupler onto a single monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC), as it occupies a small area compared to printed designs.
