We present the full spectroscopic white dwarf and hot subdwarf sample from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) first data release, DR1. We find 2551 white dwarf stars of various types, 240 hot subdwarf stars, and an additional 144 objects we have identified as uncertain white dwarf stars. Of the white dwarf stars, 1888 are nonmagnetic DA types and 171 are nonmagnetic DBs. The remaining (492) objects consist of all different types of white dwarf stars: DO, DQ, DC, DH, DZ, hybrid stars such as… Expand
SDSS DR7 WHITE DWARF CATALOG
We present a new catalog of spectroscopically confirmed white dwarf stars from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 7 spectroscopic catalog. We find 20,407 white dwarf spectra,Expand
A Catalog of Spectroscopically Selected Close Binary Systems from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release Four
We present a spectroscopic sample of 747 detached close binary systems from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Fourth Data Release. The majority of these binaries consist of a white dwarf primaryExpand
New white dwarf and subdwarf stars in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 12
White dwarfs carry information on the structure and evolution of the Galaxy, especially through their luminosity function and initial-to-final mass relation. Very cool white dwarfs provide insightExpand
A Catalog of Spectroscopically Confirmed White Dwarfs from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 4
We present a catalog of 9316 spectroscopically confirmed white dwarfs from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 4. We have selected the stars through photometric cuts and spectroscopic modeling,Expand
Cool White Dwarfs in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
A reduced proper motion diagram utilizing Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) photometry and astrometry and USNO-B plate astrometry is used to separate cool white dwarf candidates from metal-weak,Expand
White Dwarf Luminosity and Mass Functions from Sloan Digital Sky Survey Spectra
We present the first phase in our ongoing work to use Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) data to create separate white dwarf (WD) luminosity functions (LFs) for two or more different mass ranges. InExpand
Spectral analysis of 636 white dwarf - M star binaries from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
We present a catalog of 857 white dwarf (WD)-M binaries from the sixth data release (DR6) of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), most of which were previously identified. For 636 of them, weExpand
A Spectroscopic Analysis of White Dwarfs in the Kiso Survey
We present a spectroscopic analysis of white dwarfs found in the Kiso survey. Spectroscopic observations at high signal-to-noise ratio have been obtained for all DA and DB stars in the Kiso SchmidtExpand
New DQ white dwarfs in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey DR4: confirmation of two sequences
Context. DQ white dwarfs show atomic or molecular carbon features in their spectra. The atmosphere consists of helium and the carbon is believed to be dredged-up to the surface by the deepeningExpand
New ultracool and halo white dwarf candidates in SDSS Stripe 82
Abstract : A 2.5 100 region along the celestial equator (Stripe 82) has been imaged repeatedly from 1998 to 2005 by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). A new catalogue of ~4 million light-motionExpand

An Initial Survey of White Dwarfs in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
An initial assessment is made of white dwarf and hot subdwarf stars observed in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. In a small area of sky (190 square degrees), observed much like the full survey will be,Expand
Magnetic White Dwarfs from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey: The First Data Release
Beyond its goals related to the extragalactic universe, the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) is an effective tool for identifying stellar objects with unusual spectral energy distributions. Here weExpand
Photometric and Spectroscopic Analysis of Cool White Dwarfs with Trigonometric Parallax Measurements
A detailed photometric and spectroscopic analysis of cool (Teff 12,000 K) white dwarf stars is presented. The sample has been drawn from the Yale Parallax Catalog and from a proper motion survey inExpand
A First Look at White Dwarf-M Dwarf Pairs in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
We have identified 109 white dwarf (WD)–M dwarf pairs in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) with g < 20th magnitude. For each system we determined the temperature of the WD primary and the spectralExpand
A Catalog of Spectroscopically Identified White Dwarfs
A catalog of 2249 white dwarfs which have been identified spectroscopically is presented complete through 1996 April. This compilation is the fourth edition of the Villanova Catalog ofExpand
A New Very Cool White Dwarf Discovered by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
Early data taken during commissioning of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) have resulted in the discovery of a very cool white dwarf. It appears to have stronger collision-induced absorption fromExpand
White dwarfs in the 2dF QSO Redshift Survey – I. Hydrogen-rich (DA) stars
We report the spectroscopic identification of close to 1000 hydrogen-rich (DA) white dwarfs discovered in the course of the Anglo-Australian 2dF QSO Redshift Survey (2QZ). We measured the atmosphericExpand
Infrared spectrum of an extremely cool white-dwarf star
TLDR
An infrared spectrum of an extremely cool white dwarf that is consistent with the new models is reported, determining the star's temperature to be 3,500 ± 200 K, making it the coolest known white dwarf. Expand
Magnetic white dwarfs in the Early Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky survey
We have identified 7 new magnetic DA white dwarfs in the Early Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Our selection strategy has also recovered all the previously known magnetic white dwarfsExpand
An EUV-selected sample of DA white dwarfs from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey — I. Optically derived stellar parameters
One of the most important results of the ROSAT All-Sky X-ray and EUY Surveys has been the detection of a large number of white dwarfs, allowing a detailed study of the general properties of DA whiteExpand
