This paper critically examines and reviews aspects of the Bloukrans Bridge in South Africa. Among other things the paper is focused on issues including the aesthetics, loading, construction, geotechnics strength and serviceability. Example calculations are shown where appropriate, including analysis for the strength of the deck and the arch, the creep in the deck, the effect temperature has on the structure and the fundamental frequency of the bridge.
