A review is given of all species reported from France. In total, 420 species and seven subspecies have been found in France. The following synonyms are established: Atractides vandeli Angelier, Decamps and Rey as a synonym of A. phreaticus Motas and Tanasachi, Atractides fonticolus gallicus Angelier, Decamps and Rey as a synonym of A. spinipes Koch and Barbaxonella pilosa Angelier, Decamps and Rey as a synonym of B. angulata (K. Viets). The following species are reported for the first time… Expand

A compilation of present knowledge of the water mites adapted to life in standing waters on the three large islands in the western Mediterranean (Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily) is provided, with a rich volume of new material from recent field work. Expand
New species of the genus Atractides Koch, 1837 (Acari: Hydrachnidia: Hygrobatidae) from Iran
TLDR
Morphological analysis focused on morphometric characters helped to resolve issues within this group of species and to correct the previous misidentification and/or confusion. Expand
A checklist of Pontarachnidae (Acari: Hydrachnidia) and notes on distributional patterns of the species.
TLDR
A worldwide checklist of the pontarachnid mites is provided based on published reports and original data, of which the genus Pontarachna includes 30 species, while 23 species belong to the genus Litarachna. Expand
Biodiversity and distribution of the water mite fauna (Acari: Hydrachnidia) of Collo (Northeast Algeria)
In this work, we examined the biodiversity of water mites collected at the region of Collo (North-east Algeria). Sampling was carried out for a period of three years (2011/2012/2013). The speciesExpand

TLDR
To better understand the biological significance of mite and mosquito interactions, more of an effort is needed to identify the species of water mites. Expand
A systematic study on water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia) of Kemaliye district (Erzincan)

The total number of species and subspecies of water mites recorded from Iran up to date is 186 species, in 43 genera and 25 families, including one new species, Atractides elburzensis n. Expand
First record of the superfamily Hydrovolzioidea Thor, 1905 from China (Acari: Hydrachnidiae) with redescription and DNA barcodes of Hydrovolzia cancellata Walter, 1906
TLDR
The result showed that the two species could be distinguished easily by DNA barcodes, and the presence of H. cancellata in China means that seven superfamilies are officially reported in the country. Expand
The use of molecular techniques in the taxonomy of water mites (Hydrachnidia, Acari)
TLDR
Using DNA markers in the taxonomy of water mites enables definitive resolution of ambiguities in the case of numerous questionable taxa, which is of great importance in all other types of research on these organisms. Expand
