Guanabara Bay is one of the biggest semi-enclosed Brazilian water body with about 400 Km 2 located between 22°44' - 22°57'S and 42°33' - 43°19'W. The bay is characterized as an ecosystem with estuarine system pattern and presents a large environmental variability determined by different hydrological conditions throughout the bay extension.
