Spectroscopic observations of the fast X-ray transient and superluminal jet source SAX J1819.3-2525 (V4641 Sgr) reveal a best-fitting period of Pspect = 2.81678 ± 0.00056 days and a semiamplitude of K2 = 211.0 ± 3.1 km s-1. The optical mass function is f(M) = 2.74 ± 0.12 M☉. We find a photometric period of Pphoto = 2.81730 ± 0.00001 days using a light curve measured from photographic plates. The folded light curve resembles an ellipsoidal light curve with two maxima of roughly equal height and…

We report on detailed spectroscopic studies performed for the secondary star in the black hole binary (microquasar) V4641 Sgr in order to examine its surface chemical composition and to see if its
Photometry and spectroscopy of the system V4641 sagittarii in quiescence
We present the results of our CCD photometric and moderate-dispersion spectroscopic observations of the binary system V4641 Sgr, which contains a black hole of mass ≈9.5M⊙ and a normal B9III star.
An X-ray transient and optical counterpart in the M31 bulge
We have obtained snapshot images of a transient X-ray source in M31 from Chandra ACIS-I and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS). The Chandra position of the X-ray nova
The Black Hole Binary V4641 Sagitarii: Activity in Quiescence and Improved Mass Determinations
We examine ∼10 years of photometric data and find that the black hole X-ray binary V4641 Sgr has two optical states, passive and active, during X-ray quiescence. The passive state is dominated by
Orbital Parameters for the Black Hole Binary XTE J1650–500*
We present R-band photometry of the X-ray transient and candidate black hole binary XTE J1650-500 obtained between 2003 May and August with the 6.5 m Clay telescope. A timing analysis of these data
A Seyfert-2-like Spectrum in the High-mass X-Ray Binary Microquasar V4641 Sgr
We present an analysis of three archival Chandra observations of the black hole V4641 Sgr, performed during a decline into quiescence. The last two observations in the sequence can be modeled with a
The low-luminosity accretion disc wind of the black hole transient V4641 Sagittarii
We present an optical spectroscopic study of the black hole X-ray transient V4641 Sgr (=SAX J1819.3-2525) covering the 1999, 2002 and 2004 outbursts. The spectra were taken over 22 different epochs

Orbital Parameters for the Soft X-Ray Transient 4U 1543–47: Evidence for a Black Hole
Spectroscopic observations of the soft X-ray transient 4U 1543-47 reveal a radial velocity curve with a period of P = 1.123 ± 0.008 days and a semiamplitude of K2 = 124 ± 4 km s-1. The resulting mass
Optical and Infrared Photometry of the Microquasar GRO J1655-40 in Quiescence
We present BVIJK photometry of the black hole candidate GRO J1655-40 in full quiescence. We report a refined orbital period of 2.62191 ± 0.00020 days. The light curves are dominated by ellipsoidal
