This paper proposes a new configuration of a unified power quality conditioner based on modular multilevel converter (MMC-UPQC), which applies to medium voltage level with increasing the number of sub-modules. In this paper, the main circuit of MMC-UPQC and the operating principle of MMC sub-module are described in detail.
