The effect of transport of sick neonates by skilled personnel with necessary equipment on physiological parameters on admission to a neonatal intensive care unit and on outcome, was evaluated in a controlled study. In phase I routine care by staff from the hospital of birth was compared with that provided by a trained nurse/physician team.
