Dietary fibre has long been thought to be associated with a reduced risk of colorectal cancer (Burkitt, 1971). However, analytic epidemiological studies of dietary fibre and the risk of colorectal cancer have not yielded consistent associations. The first comprehensive meta-analysis of prospective studies showed no significant reduction in the risk of colorectal cancer with high consumption of fibre, but very low fibre intake (less than 10 g per day) did significantly increase bowel cancer risk… CONTINUE READING
