Macroalgae or macrophytes are a heterogeneous assemblage of macroscopic eukaryotes belonging to various evolutionary lineages, which live predominantly in aquatic habitats. They have undifferentiated vegetative bodies organized in pseudoparanchymatous and parenchymatous bodies.
