The contribution of intra- and extracellular Ca++ during KCl- and 5-hydroxytryptamine-induced contractions was investigated in human isolated umbilical arteries obtained from cords of normal full-term deliveries. In normal solution, nifedipine caused dose-dependent relaxations of the arteries contracted by high K+ (80 mM) and 5-hydroxytryptamine. The IC50 value of nifedipine on KCl-induced contractions was about 9 times lower than that on 5-hydroxytryptamine-induced contractions. In Ca(++)-free…
Genistein effects on Ca2+ handling in human umbilical artery: inhibition of sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ release and of voltage-operated Ca2+ channels
It is shown that genistein inhibits two mechanisms that could increase intracellular Ca2+ in human umbilical smooth muscle cells, behaving in this way as a potential vasorelaxing substance of fetal vessels.
Warming and response to contractile agents in calf cardiac vein: role of the nitric oxide
It is suggested that nitric oxide seems to have no role in the warming‐induced responses in calf cardiac vein, and the sensitivity of carbachol 5‐HT, KCl, and CaCl2 was significantly higher than at 37 °C.
Pharmacology of the ovine uterine artery and umbilical blood vessels: Serotonergic and α- adrenergic mechanisms
Whether 5-HT induces the hydrolysis of phosphoinositide in the ovine umbilical artery is investigated to determine the time-course and concentration-response relationship to 5- HT.
Dana Koroner Arterinde Serotonine Baðlý Kasýlma Cevaplarýnda Verapamil ve Nitrendipinin Ýnhibitör Etkileri INHIBITOR EFFECTS OF VERAPAMÝL AND NÝTRENDÝPÝNE ON SEROTONIN INDUCED CONTRACTION IN CALF CORONARY ARTERY
Summary Purpose: In this in vitro study, coronary arteries of calf were used to compare the inhibitory effects of verapamil and nitrendipine on serotonine (5-HT) dependent contractions and to
