To the Editor: We read with a lot of interest the article published by Nguyen et al. ( 1 ) demonstrating the lack of effi cacy of 5-aminosalicylates (5-ASA) for cancer prevention in infl ammatory bowel disease. Although potentially protective, most recent data have been negative ( 2 – 5 ) including fi ndings presented in this metaanalysis.
