A new electron gun for a super wide deflection angle (SWDA) cathode ray tube (CRT) has been developed. For a SWDA the dynamic focus voltage is usually very high, lowering the dynamic focus voltage is one of the key factors to realize wide angle CRTs. We designed a new quadrupole lens for the electron gun. As a result, we were able to achieve a reasonable focus quality with low dynamic voltage that is comparable to the conventional CRTs. The new electron gun enabled SWDA CRTs possible.

New designs for DYs and Electron Guns considered to be the most difficult are introduced, which are expected to maintain the solid position of CRTs in the coming era of display device competition.

49.4: A Numerical Computation of CRT Beam Landing Displacement Under the Earth Magnetic Field

We have developed a computation method that can calculate landing shift using magnetic fields inside CRTs. Magnetic fields only along the electron beam path are measured for the computation.

Development of a 32‐in. slim CRT with 125° deflection

New designs, mainly for deflection yokes and electron guns, will be introduced, which are considered the most difficult to design and will help maintain the solid positions of CRTs in the coming era.
