Studies in animal models have suggested that the ketogenic diet may be effective in the treatment of cancer. However, human cohort studies on the ketogenic diet have, thus far, failed to show benefits in cancer survival or in any other hard clinical endpoints of the disease. This paper presents a case report of a patient with glioblastoma multiforme. The patient had initially been treated with standard oncotherapy including surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Despite standard treatment, the… Expand

Ketogenic diets in medical oncology: a systematic review with focus on clinical outcomes
TLDR
Beneficial effects of KDs on OS and/or PFS were found in four studies including one randomized controlled trial and studies in high-grade glioma patients were not sufficiently powered to prove efficacy. Expand
Short-term effects of a Paleolithic lifestyle intervention in breast cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy: a pilot and feasibility study
TLDR
This pilot study shows that adoption of a PL intervention during curative radiotherapy of breast cancer patients is feasible and able to reduce fat mass and daily outdoor activity could eliminate vitamin D deficiency (vitamin D < 20 ng/ml). Expand

Management of Glioblastoma Multiforme in a Patient Treated With Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy and Modified Standard of Care: A 24-Month Follow-Up
TLDR
This is the first report of confirmed GBM treated with a modified SOC together with KMT and HBOT, and other targeted metabolic therapies and additional studies are needed to validate the efficacy of KMT administered with alternative approaches that selectively increase oxidative stress in tumor cells while restricting their access to glucose and glutamine. Expand
Metabolic management of glioblastoma multiforme using standard therapy together with a restricted ketogenic diet: Case Report
TLDR
This is the first report of confirmed GBM treated with standard therapy together with a restricted ketogenic diet, and as rapid regression of GBM is rare in older patients following incomplete surgical resection and standard therapy alone, the response observed in this case could result in part from the action of the calorie restrictedketogenic diet. Expand
Efficacy of Metabolically Supported Chemotherapy Combined with Ketogenic Diet, Hyperthermia, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Stage IV Triple-Negative Breast Cancer
TLDR
Evidence of a complete clinical, radiological, and pathological response following a six-month treatment period using a combination of MSCT and a novel metabolic therapy in a patient with stage IV TNBC is presented. Expand
Treatment of glioma patients with ketogenic diets: report of two cases treated with an IRB-approved energy-restricted ketogenic diet protocol and review of the literature
TLDR
KD is safe and without major side effects; ketosis can be induced using customary foods; treatment with KD may be effective in controlling the progression of some gliomas; and further studies are needed to determine factors that influence the effectiveness of KD. Expand
Ketogenic diet treatment as adjuvant to standard treatment of glioblastoma multiforme: a feasibility and safety study
TLDR
KD was feasible and safe as an adjuvant to standard chemoradiation treatment of glioblastoma multiforme and a supportive partner and intensive counseling were essential for coping. Expand
Complete Cessation of Recurrent Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia (CIN) by the Paleolithic Ketogenic Diet: A Case Report
TLDR
The paleolithic ketogenic diet combines benefits of both paleolithic and classical ketogenic diets, while excluding their disadvantages, and is believed to be effective and safe in this patient. Expand
Treatment of Rectal Cancer with the Paleolithic Ketogenic Diet: A 24-months Follow-up
TLDR
With using the paleolithic ketogenic diet the patient was able to postpone surgery for two years, and with incomplete dietary adherence, disease seemed to be stable but symptoms suggested progression for the last few months of the follow-up. Expand
ERGO: A pilot study of ketogenic diet in recurrent glioblastoma
TLDR
A ketogenic diet is feasible and safe but probably has no significant clinical activity when used as single agent in recurrent glioblastoma, according to the results of the ERGO trial. Expand
Halted Progression of Soft Palate Cancer in a Patient Treated with the Paleolithic Ketogenic Diet Alone: A 20-months Follow-up
TLDR
The paleolithic ketogenic diet resulted in a halted progression of the tumor as evidenced by imaging follow-up and the patient is on the diet for 20 months, without symptoms and side effects. Expand
Epidemiologic and Molecular Prognostic Review of Glioblastoma
TLDR
The current epidemiology of GBM is reported with new data from the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States 2006 to 2010 as well as demonstrate and discuss trends in incidence and survival. Expand
