The genus Amussiopecten has been reported from many localities of Japan and Formosa (Text-fig. 1). Amussiopecten praesignis (YOKOVAMA) was first described by M. Y OKOYAMA in 1922 from an unknown locality. In 1926 he pointed out "that its locality lies somewhere in Southern Totomi", Shizuoka Prefecture. This species is also recorded by the same author from the Lower Byoritsu beds in Taiwan (1928) and Tonohama in Toss (1929). As was pointed out by T.
