PURPOSE Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) is a new quantitative imaging technique capable of determining the spatial distribution of superparamagnetic nanoparticles at high temporal and spatial resolution. For reconstructing this spatial distribution, the particle dynamics and the scanner properties have to be known.
