Background Cancer stem cells (CSCs) have been proposed as central drivers of cancer relapse in many cancers. In the present study, we investigated the inhibitory effect of 20(R)-Ginsenoside Rg3 (Rg3R), a major active component of ginseng saponin, on CSC-like cells and the Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) in colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods The effects of ginsenoside Rg3R on the colony-forming, migration, invasion, and wound-healing abilities of CRC cells were determined in HT29 and SW620…

Ginsenoside Rg3 Suppresses Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition via Downregulating Notch-Hes1 Signaling in Colon Cancer Cells.
TLDR
Rg3 could effectively inhibit colon cancer cell invasion and metastasis via suppressing Notch-Hes1-EMT signaling through in vivo and in vitro studies.
Ginsenoside Rg3 suppresses ovarian cancer cell proliferation and invasion by inhibiting the expression of lncRNA H19.
TLDR
Ginsenoside Rg3 suppresses the proliferation, migration and invasion of OC cells by partially inhibiting the expression of lncRNA H19.
Strategies for Remodeling the Tumor Microenvironment Using Active Ingredients of Ginseng—A Promising Approach for Cancer Therapy
TLDR
A potential mechanistic link between ginseng-associated restoration of gut microbiota and the tumor immune microenvironment is proposed, and novel perspectives on potential applications for ginseneng active ingredients as anti-cancer adjuvants that achieve anti- cancer effects by reshaping the tumor microenvironment are provided.
Traditional Chinese Medicines as Effective Reversals of Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition Induced-Metastasis of Colorectal Cancer: Molecular Targets and Mechanisms
TLDR
The objective of this review is to summarize and assess the anti-metastatic effect of TCM-originated bioactive compounds and Chinese medicine formulas by mediating EMT-associated signaling pathways in CRC therapy, providing a foundation for further research on the exact mechanisms of action through which TCMs affect EMT transform in CRC.
Targeting Cancer Stem Cells by Dietary Agents: An Important Therapeutic Strategy against Human Malignancies
TLDR
In vitro studies, as well as experiments on the different preclinical models have shown capacity of natural products in suppressing cancer stemness, and use of nanostructures for improving therapeutic impact of dietary agents is recommended.
Ginsenoside Rg3 Prevents Oncogenic Long Noncoding RNA ATXN8OS from Inhibiting Tumor-Suppressive microRNA-424-5p in Breast Cancer Cells
TLDR
A lncRNA (ATXN8OS) was found to be downregulated via Rg3-mediated promoter hypermethylation in MCF-7 breast cancer cells, suggesting that the noncoding RNA possessed proproliferation activity.
20(R)-ginsenoside Rg3, a product of high-efficiency thermal deglycosylation of ginsenoside Rd, exerts protective effects against scrotal heat-induced spermatogenic damage in mice
TLDR
It is demonstrated that G-Rg3 exerted protective effects against HS-induced testicular dysfunction via inhibiting the MAPK-mediated oxidative stress and apoptosis in mice.
Efficacy and safety evaluation of black ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Mey.) extract (CJ EnerG): broad spectrum cytotoxic activity in human cancer cell lines and 28-day repeated oral toxicity study in Sprague-Dawley rats
TLDR
It is demonstrated that BGE has broad-spectrum in vitro cytotoxic activity, and that NOAEL of BGE in SD rats is > 2000 mg/kg, providing the essential safety information for human consumption.
The F‐box protein FBXO11 restrains hepatocellular carcinoma stemness via promotion of ubiquitin‐mediated degradation of Snail
TLDR
Overexpression of Snail rescued the inhibitory effect of FBXO11 overexpression on HCC cell stemness and reveals the existence of a novel FBX O11/Snail regulatory axis that is necessary for HCCcell stemness.

The anti‐metastatic effect of ginsenoside Rb2 in colorectal cancer in an EGFR/SOX2‐dependent manner
TLDR
Ginsenoside Rb2 significantly reduced the number of metastatic nodules in the livers, lungs, and kidneys in a mouse model of metastasis, suggesting that ginsenosides R b2 could be used to treat the metastasis of CRC therapeutically or as a supplement.
Ginsenoside Rg3 inhibits epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and invasion of lung cancer by down-regulating FUT4
TLDR
It is found that ginsenoside Rg3 treatment inhibited cell migration and invasion of lung cancer by down-regulating FUT4 mediated EGFR inactivation and blocking MAPK and NF-κB signal pathways.
Ginsenoside Rd Inhibits the Metastasis of Colorectal Cancer via Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Signaling Axis
TLDR
It is found that ginsenoside Rd decreased the colony‐forming ability, migration, invasion, and wound‐healing abilities of CRC cells, although it did not affect cell proliferation.
Ginsenoside Rh2 Targets EGFR by Up-Regulation of miR-491 to Enhance Anti-tumor Activity in Hepatitis B Virus-Related Hepatocellular Carcinoma
TLDR
The data reveal an anti-tumor effect of ginsenoside Rh2 and demonstrate that this effect may function via activation and inhibition of EGFR signaling in HCC cells, and suggest miR-491 can be a promising regulatory factor in EGFR signal transduction.
Inhibitory effect of tumor metastasis in mice by saponins, ginsenoside-Rb2, 20(R)- and 20(S)-ginsenoside-Rg3, of red ginseng.
TLDR
It is suggested that both ginseng saponins, 20(R)- and 20(S)-ginsenoside-Rg3, possess an ability to inhibit the lung metastasis of tumor cells, and the mechanism of their antimetastatic effect is related to inhibition of the adhesion and invasion of tumor Cells, and also to anti-angiogenesis activity.
