The clinical application of a concentrated safflower oil emulsion was evaluated in six neonates maintained exclusively on TPN for two weeks. The neonates received the standard 10% infusion for one week and the 20% emulsion the second week. Clinical and laboratory studies revealed no side effects other than those previously recognized.
