We previously demonstrated that 14-3-3β is overexpressed in astrocytomas; however, the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. Based on the reported multiple functions of 14-3-3β, we hypothesized that it interacts with glycogen synthase kinase 3 β (GSK3β), which regulates β-catenin-mediated oncogene expression and contributes to tumorigenesis and astrocytoma progression. To test these hypotheses, we used 14-3-3β overexpression vectors and small interfering RNA (siRNA) transfection in the…

14-3-3β exerts glioma-promoting effects and is associated with malignant progression and poor prognosis in patients with glioma
TLDR
The results demonstrate that 14-3-3β levels were significantly higher in human glioma tissues compared with normal brain tissues and patients with gliomas who had high 14- 3-3 β levels had a significantly shorter survival time compared with those with low expression of 14-4-4β, suggesting that 14 -3- 3β may be an effective predictor of the prognosis of patients withglioma.
Downregulation of 14-3-3β inhibits proliferation and migration in osteosarcoma cells.
TLDR
It is suggested that the anticancer effects of 14‑3‑3β knockdown in MG63 cells might be mediated by the inhibition of the Wnt/β‑catenin signaling pathway and suggests a potential therapeutic application for 14-3-3β as a novel target for the treatment of osteosarcoma patients.

TLDR
It is found that cotreatment with PPARγ ligands and GW9662 inhibited stem-like properties in GSC-like spheres, which significantly express SOX2, and combined administration of small-interfering RNA (siRNA) transfection with PPARI ligands induced downregulation ofSOX2 and MMP2 activity together with inhibition of sphere-forming activity regardless of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) cleavage.
PI3K inhibitor combined with miR-125b inhibitor sensitize TMZ-induced anti-glioma stem cancer effects through inactivation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway
TLDR
The data strongly support an important role for PI3K inhibitor and miR-125b inhibitor on conferring GSCs resistance to TMZ through targeting Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.
Cellular energy stress induces AMPK-mediated regulation of glioblastoma cell proliferation by PIKE-A phosphorylation
TLDR
It is shown that cellular energy stress induces PIKE-A phosphorylation mediated by AMPK activation, thereby preventing its carcinogenic action, and the data uncover a molecular mechanism and functional significance of PIke-Aosphorylation response to cellular energy status mediated byAMPK.
MEK inhibitor, PD98059, promotes breast cancer cell migration by inducing β-catenin nuclear accumulation.
TLDR
The results revealed that MEK inhibitor PD98059 exhibited antiproliferative effects in a dose- and time-dependent manner in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells, and activation of EGFR signaling induced by PD 98059 increased the amount of β-catenin in the nucleus.
N-cadherin, beta-catenin and connexin 43 expression in astrocytic tumours of various grades.
TLDR
Evaluating N-cadherin, beta-catenin and connexin 43 expression in astrocytic tumors showed evidence for transcriptional function of beta- catenin in those groups, and showed that glioblastomas a very important role of all examined proteins is generating intracellular connections to facilitate the escape of tumor cells from the effects of hypoxia or their accumulation around the blood vessels rather than tumor invasion into the brain parenchyma.
Disrupted in schizophrenia 1 (DISC1) inhibits glioblastoma development by regulating mitochondria dynamics
TLDR
Findings reveal that DISC1 affects glioblastoma cell development via mitochondria dynamics partly by down regulation of Drp1.
