The pathways of currently fixed carbon in fruit bearing branchlets were investigated in two temperate forest tree species (CARPINUS BETULUS and FAGUS SYLVATICA), which differ in texture of their vegetative infructescence tissues (leaf-like in CARPINUS vs. woody in FAGUS).
