Since 1950, 57 traumatic diaphragmatic ruptures have been treated by operation in our hospital. Of these, 3 were peritoneopericardial hernias. Early diagnosis is difficult because of severe associated injuries. A symptomfree interval can be followed by signs that are difficult to interpret. Surgical correction is advisable.
