The present study deals with developing a predictive methodology for evaporation heat transfer coefficient of refrigerant R-134a flowing in a plate heat exchanger. Correlation schemes proposed by Yan and Lin (1999b) for modeling the heat transfer coefficient in both a singlephase water-to-water experiment and a two-phase evaporation experiment with refrigerant R134a in a plate heat exchanger are found to result in large discrepancies with their own experimental data.
