1 2 O ct 2 02 1 A sign of the times
@inproceedings{Magueijo202112O, title={1 2 O ct 2 02 1 A sign of the times}, author={Jo{\~a}o Magueijo}, year={2021} }
We examine in greater detail the recent proposal that time is the conjugate of the constants of nature. Fundamentally distinct times are associated with different constants and we should select the one related to the constant dominating the dynamics in each region or epoch. We show in detail how in regions dominated by a single constant the Hamiltonian constraint can be reframed as a Schrodinger equation in the corresponding time, solved in the connection representation by outgoing-only…

These lectures on the cosmological constant problem were prepared for the X Mexican School on Gravitation and Mathematical Physics. The problem itself is explained in detail, emphasising the…
Canonical quantum gravity and the problem of time
- Philosophy
- 1992
The aim of this paper is to provide a general introduction to the problem of time in quantum gravity. This problem originates in the fundamental conflict between the way the concept of ‘time’ is used…

It is shown that the tunneling wave function predicts initial states that lead to inflation, while the Hartle-Hawking wave function does not.
The Anthropic Cosmological Principle

Is there any connection between the vastness of the universes of stars and galaxies and the existence of life on a small planet out in the suburbs of the Milky Way? This book shows that there is. In…

TIME AND INTERPRETATIONS OF QUANTUM GRAVITY
- Physics
- 1992
In canonical quantization of gravity, the state functional does not seem to depend on time. This hampers the physical interpretation of quantum gravity. I critically examine ten major attempts to…
