We consider the e ect of an expanding plasma on probe matter by determining timedependent D7 embeddings in the holographic dual of an expanding viscous plasma. We calculate the chiral condensate and meson spectra including contributions of the viscosity. While the chiral condensate essentially con rms the expectation from the static black hole, the meson spectra show signi cant di erences in the sub-leading behavior, suggesting that dynamics has considerable impact on the e ective meson masses.
