We argue that higher-curvature terms in the gravitational Lagrangian lead, via non-relativistic gauge-gravity duality, to finite renormalization of the dynamical exponent of the dual conformal field theory. Our argument includes a proof of the non-renormalization of the Schrodinger and Lifshitz metrics beyond rescalings of their parameters, directly generalizing the AdS case. We use this effect to construct string-theory duals of non-relativistic critical systems with non-integer dynamical…

R 2 corrections to asymptotically Lifshitz spacetimes

We study R2 corrections to five-dimensional asymptotically Lifshitz spacetimes by adding Gauss-Bonnet terms in the effective action. For the zero-temperature backgrounds we obtain exact solutions in

2 Corrections to Asymptotically Lifshitz Spacetimes

We study R2 corrections to five-dimensional asymptotically Lifshitz spacetimes by adding Gauss-Bonnet terms in the effective action. For the zero-temperature backgrounds we obtain exact solutions in

Some no-go theorems for string duals of non-relativistic Lifshitz-like theories

We study possibilities of string theory embeddings of the gravity duals for non-relativistic Lifshitz-like theories with anisotropic scale invariance. We search classical solutions in type IIA and

Non-relativistic M-Theory solutions based on Kähler-Einstein spaces

We present new families of non-supersymmetric solutions of D = 11 supergravity with non-relativistic symmetry, based on six-dimensional Kahler-Einstein manifolds. In constructing these solutions, we

Non-relativistic metrics from back-reacting fermions

It has recently been pointed out that under certain circumstances the back-reaction of charged, massive Dirac fermions causes important modifications to AdS2 spacetimes arising as the near-horizon

Correlation Functions in Non-Relativistic Holography

Recently constructed gravity solutions with Schrodinger symmetry provide a new example of AdS/CFT-type dualities for the type of non-relativistic field theories relevant to certain cold atom systems.

Non-relativistic holography

We consider holography for d-dimensional scale invariant but non-Lorentz invariant field theories, which do not admit the full Schrodinger symmetry group. We find new realizations of the

Holographic stress tensor for non-relativistic theories

We discuss the calculation of the field theory stress tensor from the dual geometry for two recent proposals for gravity duals of non-relativistic conformal field theories. The first of these has a

Gravity duals for non-relativistic CFTs

We attempt to generalize the AdS/CFT correspondence to non-relativistic conformal field theories which are invariant under Galilean transformations. Such systems govern ultracold atoms at unitarity,

Comments on string theory backgrounds with non-relativistic conformal symmetry

We consider non-relativistic conformal quantum mechanical theories that arise by doing discrete light cone quantization of field theories. If the field theory has a gravity dual, then the conformal

Effect of curvature squared corrections in AdS on the viscosity of the dual gauge theory

We use the real-time finite-temperature AdS/CFT correspondence to compute the effect of general R 2 corrections to the gravitational action in AdS space on the shear viscosity of the dual gauge

Gravity duals for nonrelativistic conformal field theories.

This work attempts to generalize the anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondence to nonrelativistic conformal field theories which are invariant under Galilean transformations, and constructs a family of metrics which realize these symmetries as isometries.

Quantum corrections to ?/s

We consider corrections to the ratio of the shear viscosity to the entropy density in strongly coupled non-Abelian plasmas using the AdS/CFT correspondence. In particular, higher-derivative terms

Hot spacetimes for cold atoms

Building on our earlier work and that of Son, we construct string theory duals of non-relativistic critical phenomena at finite temperature and density. Concretely, we find black hole solutions of

Families of IIB duals for nonrelativistic CFTs

We show that the recent string theory embedding of a spacetime with nonrelativistic Schrodinger symmetry can be generalised to a twenty one dimensional family of solutions with that symmetry. Our

We calculate the conformal anomaly from 5-D Weyl gravity (with broken conformal symmetry) which is conjectured to be supergravity dual to superconformal field theory via AdS/CFT correspondence. Its
