We discuss the dynamics of linear, scalar perturbations in an almost Friedmann-Robertson-Walker braneworld cosmology of Randall-Sundrum type II using the 1+3 covariant approach. We derive a complete set of frame-independent equations for the total matter variables, and a partial set of equations for the non-local variables which arise from the projection of the Weyl tensor in the bulk. The latter equations are incomplete since there is no propagation equation for the non-local anisotropic…

In this thesis, we explore three phenomenological alternatives to the current paradigm of the standard inflationary big bang scenario. The three alternative themes are spin torsion (or…

We study scalar cosmological perturbations in a braneworld model with a bulk Gauss–Bonnet term. For an anti-de Sitter bulk, the five-dimensional perturbation equations share the same form as in the…

In the Randall-Sundrum cosmological models, a (3+1)-dimensional brane subject to a Z2 orbifold symmetry is embedded in a (4+1)-dimensional bulk spacetime empty except for a negative cosmological…

We discuss the scalar cosmological perturbations in a 3-brane world with a 5D bulk. We first show explicitly how the effective perturbed Einstein equations on the brane (involving the Weyl fluid) are…

We explore aspects of cosmological perturbations in braneworld scenarios. In order to correctly evaluate perturbations on a four-dimensional brane, we need to solve higher dimensional bulk…

We study the behaviour of scalar perturbations in the radiation-dominated era of Randall–Sundrum braneworld cosmology by numerically solving the coupled bulk and brane master wave equations. We find…

We present solutions for the late time evolution of cosmological tensor and scalar perturbations in a single-Randall–Sundrum-brane world model. Assuming that the bulk is anti-de Sitter spacetime, the…
