Abstract: The “pedestal, dais” (parakku) of Ninurta’s temple Eḫursaĝtila in Babylon is described as a bipartite monument in a topographical text (George 1992, no.9). This allows identification with the so-called “altar” excavated in front of the temple’s gate. The pedestal’s nomination after Asakku refers probably to its adornment with an image of the monster conquered by Ninurta, thereby pointing to the location of his temple.
