Moraine systems of Glaciar Lengua (unofficial name) and neighbouring glaciers of Gran Campo Nevado (53°S) in the southernmost Andes were mapped and dated by dendrochronological means. They were formed around AD 1628, 1872/1875, 1886, 1902, 1912 and 1941 with the advance in the 1870s being calendar dated. Recessional moraines within each moraine system correspond to brief standstills or minor readvances. A significantly older moraine could not be directly dated by dendrochronological methods as…

Little Ice Age fluctuations of Glaciar Río Manso in the North Patagonian Andes of Argentina
Glaciar León, Chilean Patagonia: late-Holocene chronology and geomorphology
Glaciar León is a temperate, grounded outlet of the eastern North Patagonian Icefield (NPI). It terminates at an active calving margin in Lago Leones, a 10 km long proglacial lake. We take a
The geomorphology and sedimentology of the ‘Témpanos’ moraine at Laguna San Rafael, Chile
The San Rafael Glacier is one of the largest and most dynamic outlet glaciers of the North Patagonian Icefield, Chile. The contemporary glacier calves into a large tidal laguna, which is partially
Post‐1850 changes in glacier benito, north patagonian icefield, chile
Abstract Glacier Benito is a temperate outlet glacier on the west side of the North Patagonian Icefield. Rates of thinning and ablation were obtained using data collected by the ritish Joint Services
Holocene glacier fluctuations in Garibaldi Provincial Park, southern coast mountains, British Columbia

Glacier fluctuations of the last 10,000 years have been reconstructed in Garibaldi Provincial Park in the southern Coast Mountains, British Columbia, from historical documents, dendrochronologic and
Late Holocene Glacial Fluctuations of Schiaparelli Glacier at Monte Sarmiento Massif, Tierra del Fuego (54°24′S)
The Magallanes–Tierra del Fuego region, Southern Patagonia (53–56°S) features a plethora of fjords and remote and isolated islands, and hosts several thousand glaciers. The number of investigated
Accelerating shrinkage of Patagonian glaciers from the Little Ice Age (~AD 1870) to 2011
Abstract We used Little Ice Age (LIA) trimlines and moraines to assess changes in South American glaciers over the last ~140 years. We determined the extent and length of 640 glaciers during the LIA
Historical records of San Rafael glacier advances (North Patagonian Icefield): another clue to 'Little Ice Age' timing in southern Chile?
Past ice lobe behaviour at Laguna San Rafael is described in documents provided by Spanish and then Chilean explorers from the late seventeenth to the early twentieth centuries. These records begin
Glacier fluctuations during the past millennium in Garibaldi Provincial Park, southern Coast Mountains, British Columbia
The Little Ice Age glacier history in Garibaldi Provincial Park (southern Coast Mountains, British Columbia) was reconstructed using geomorphic mapping, radiocarbon ages on fossil wood in glacier

Fluctuations of the South Patagonian Ice‐field during the last glaciation and the Holocene
Mapping along a transect from the southeastern margin of the South Patagonian Ice-field in Torres del Paine National Park (Chile) to the limits of fresh moraines of the last glacial cycle indentified
Historical fluctuations of the Gualas and Reicher Glaciers, North Patagonian Icefield, Chile
Dendrochronology was used to date historical fluctuations of the little-visited Gualas and Reicher Glaciers on the North Patagonian Icefield in southern Chile. Vegetation trimlines dating to ad 1876,
An advance of Soler Glacier, North Patagonian Icefield, at c. AD 1222–1342
Soler Glacier is a temperate outlet glacier on the eastern side of the North Patagonian Icefield in Chile. The glacier is currently receding from its ‘Little Ice Age’ maximum position, attained
Climate, tree-ring, and glacial fluctuations in the Rio Frias valley, Rio Negro, Argentina.
This study documents the use of dendrochronology for dating oscillations of glaciers and climatic changes related to them. The application of dendrochronological and dendroclimatological methods
Nineteenth- and Twentieth-Century Glacier Fluctuations and Climatic Implications in the Arco and Colonia Valleys, Hielo Patagónico Norte, Chile
Dendrochronology, lichenometry, and analysis of aerial photographs taken in 1944, 1979, and 1983 were used to date the 19th- and 20th-century fluctuations of the Arco, Colonia, and Arenales glaciers
Late-Holocene glacier variations in the Cordillera Darwin, Tierra del Fuego, Chile
Radiocarbon dates obtained on peat and macrofossils, sampled both proximally and distally, of a terminal moraine in the Bahia Pia area, Cordillera Darwin, Tierra del Fuego, Chile, indicate that the
