Previously designed as peptide prototype of piracetam, cyclo-(prolyl-glycine) (CPG) was discovered as an endogenous compound in rat brain and found to exhibit nootropic and anxiolytic properties. In the present work, N -phenylacetyl-glycyl- L -proline ethyl ester (GZK-111) was synthesized.
