The α- and β-modifications of barium metaborate are important functional materials used in optoelectronic devices. A new theoretically predicted modification of BaB2O4 has been synthesized under conditions of 3 GPa and 900 °C, using the DIA-type apparatus. The new high-pressure modification, γ-BaB2O4, crystallizes in a centrosymmetrical group of monoclinic syngony (P21/n (#14), a = 4.6392(4) Å, b = 10.2532(14) Å, c = 7.066(1) Å, β = 91.363(10)°, Z = 4). A distinctive feature of the γ-BaB2O4…

HP-CsB5O8 : synthesis and characterization of an outstanding borate exhibiting the simultaneous linkage of all structural units of borates.

TLDR
The new cesium pentaborate HP-CsB5 O8 is synthesized under high-pressure/high-temperature conditions of 6 GPa and 900 °C in a Walker-type multianvil apparatus and is the second structure type possessing this outstanding combination of the main structural units of borates in one compound.

High-Pressure Preparation, Crystal Structure, and Properties of RE4B6O15 (RE = Dy, Ho) with an Extension of the “Fundamental Building Block”-Descriptors

High-pressure/high-temperature conditions of 8 GPa and 1000°C were used to synthesize the new rare earth oxoborates RE4B6O15 (RE = Dy, Ho) in a Walker-type multianvil apparatus. The single crystal

La3B6O13(OH): The First Acentric High‐Pressure Borate Displaying Edge‐Sharing BO4 Tetrahedra

TLDR
Single‐crystal and powder X‐ray diffraction, vibrational and MAS NMR spectroscopy, second‐harmonic generation (SHG) and thermoanalytical measurements, as well as computational methods were used to affirm the proposed structure and the B2O6 entities.

High-pressure preparation, crystal structure, and properties of alpha-(RE)2B4O9 (RE=Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy): oxoborates displaying a new type of structure with edge-sharing BO4 tetrahedra.

TLDR
The isotypic compounds exhibit a new type of structure that is built up of BO(4) tetrahedra to form a network that incorporates the rare-earth cations.

High-pressure Synthesis and Characterization of the Alkali Metal Borate HP-RbB3O5

The rubidium triborate HP-RbB3O5 (HP=high-pressure) was synthesized under highpressure =high-temperature conditions of 6 GPa and 1000° C in a Walker-type multianvil apparatus. The precursor was

The High‐Pressure Borate HP‐(NH4)B3O5

The high-pressure ammonium triborate HP-(NH4)B3O5 was synthesized in a high-pressure/high-temperature experiment at 3 GPa and 600 °C. It crystalizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c (No. 15) with

Stable oxoborate with edge-sharing BO4 tetrahedra synthesized under ambient pressure.

TLDR
A novel borate KZnB3O6 synthesized under ambient pressure is presented, believed to be the first ambient pressure borate with the edgesharing BO4 tetrahedra, and demonstrates that high pressure is not an indispensable prerequisite for the formation of edge-sharing BO4 polyhedra.

Experimental and Ab Initio Studies of Intrinsic Defects in "Antizeolite" Borates with a Ba12(BO3)66+ Framework and Their Influence on Properties.

TLDR
It has been found that Ba12(BO3)6[BO3][LiF4] crystals are optically active gyrotropic with an isotropic point at 499 nm at 300 K and are of interest for practical application as narrow-band light filters.
