α-Amylase production in batch and continuous cultures by Bacillus caldolyticus

The concentration and productivity of α-amylase increased remarkably, 15- and 11-fold respectively, in a continuous culture of Bacillus caldolyticus DSM 405 compared with batch culture, provided starch was used as the sugar source in a casitone medium.
