IN sympathetic neurons, catecholamines interact with prejunctional α-adrenergic receptors to reduce delivery of transmitter to postjunctional target organs1-4. This autoinhibitory feedback is a general phenomenon seen in diverse neurons containing a variety of transmitters2-4.
