A bstractΔ(54) can serve as a flavor symmetry in particle physics, but remains almost unexplored. We show that in a classification of semi-realistic ℤ3 × ℤ3 heterotic string orbifolds, Δ(54) turns out to be the most natural flavor symmetry, providing additional motivation for its study. We revisit its phenomenological potential from a low-energy perspective and subject to the constraints of string models. We find a model with Δ(54) arising from heterotic orbifolds that leads to the Gatto…

The first string-derived eclectic flavor model with realistic phenomenology

Eclectic flavor groups arising from string compactifications combine the power of modular and traditional flavor symmetries to address the flavor puzzle. This top-down scheme determines the

Landscape of promising nonsupersymmetric string models

Leptoquarks extending the Standard Model (SM) are attracting an increasing attention in the recent literature. Hence, the identification of 4D SM-like models and the classification of allowed

Flavor and CP from String Theory

Modular transformations of string theory are shown to play a crucial role in the discussion of discrete flavor symmetries in the Standard Model. They include CP transformations and provide a

The framework of compactified heterotic string theory offers consistent ultraviolet (UV) comple-tions of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. In this approach, the existence of flavor symmetries

Top-down anatomy of flavor symmetry breakdown

A top-down approach to the flavor puzzle leads to eclectic flavor groups which include modular and traditional flavor symmetries. Based on examples of semirealistic T 2 / Z 3 orbifold compactifications

A variant of 3-3-1 model for the generation of the SM fermion mass and mixing pattern

A bstractWe propose an extension of the 3-3-1 model with an additional symmetry group Z2×Z4×U1Lg$$ {Z}_2\times {Z}_4\times \mathrm{U}{(1)}_{L_g} $$ and an extended scalar sector. To our best

Lepton flavor model from Δ(54) symmetry

We present the lepton flavor model with ?(54), which appears typically in heterotic string models on the T2/Z3 orbifold. Our model reproduces the tri-bimaximal mixing in the parameter region around

Δ(54) flavor model for leptons and sleptons

We study a Δ(54) × Z2 flavor model for leptons and sleptons. The tri-bimaximal mixing can be reproduced for arbitrary neutrino masses if certain vacuum alignments of scalar fields are realized. The

Seesaw neutrinos from the heterotic string.

TLDR
It is argued that this situation is quite common in heterotic orbifolds, where no large GUT representations are needed to generate the Majorana mass terms and the total number of right-handed neutrinos can be very large, up to O(100).

Towards low energy physics from the heterotic string

We investigate orbifold compactifications of the heterotic string, addressing in detail their construction, classification and phenomenological potential. We present a strategy to search for models

Supersymmetric standard model from the heterotic string.

TLDR
A orbifold compactification of the E8xE8 heterotic string which leads to the (supersymmetric) standard model gauge group and matter content and the model is consistent with gauge coupling unification.

String-derived D4 flavor symmetry and phenomenological implications

In this paper we show how some flavor symmetries may be derived from the heterotic string, when compactified on a 6D orbifold. In the body of the paper we focus on the D{sub 4} family symmetry,

Phenomenology of dark matter from A4 flavor symmetry

We investigate a model in which Dark Matter is stabilized by means of a Z2 parity that results from the same non-abelian discrete flavor symmetry which accounts for the observed pattern of neutrino

The Flavor Symmetry

Assuming that the lepton, quark and Higgs fields belong to the three-dimensional reducible representation of the permutation group S 3 , we suggest a minimal S 3 invariant extension of the standard
