Neurohormonal axis in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension: friend or foe?
This work has revealed that sympathetic overstimulation is strongly related to mortality, and blockade of neurohormonal activity in experimental PAH improved survival and cardiac function, and shed new light on the role of Neuroh hormonal activity in PAH.
Cellular, Synaptic and Network Effects of Acetylcholine in the Neocortex
This review aims to summarize the state-of-the-art anatomical and physiological data to develop a functional map of the cellular, synaptic and microcircuit effects of ACh in the neocortex of rodents and non-human primates to serve as a quantitative reference for those intending to build data-driven computational models on the role of A Ch in governing brain states.
The interplay between electrical and chemical synaptogenesis
A review of recent studies that shed light on the formation and developmental interactions of chemical and electrical synapses in neurons and how electrical activity plays an important role in this process.

The notion that synaptic transmission is both chemical and electrical, and that interactions between these two forms of interneuronal communication might be required for normal brain development and function, is emphasized.
Nanostructured Coatings for Improved Charge Delivery to Neurons
This chapter explores the variability and limitations of traditional stimulation electrodes by first appreciating how electrical potential differences lead to efficacious activation of nearby neurons
