The nerve of Lange, part of the starfish hyponeural nervous system, was investigated with the light-, fluorescence- and electron microscopes in Asterias rubens. It consists of two layers, one containing perikarya, the other fibres. The big nerve cells are unipolar and possess club-shaped processes which extend into the coelom.
