The Creole garden, commonly called the jardin lakou in Haiti, is a multi-purpose, multi-layer agroforestry system. This old cropping system is still a prominent fea- ture in the agrarian landscape and plays an important part in family farming in mountain areas, particularly in the con- text of the ecological, economic and social crises facing Haiti.
