At the Surgical University Clinic in Jena, between 1974 and 1978, an endoprothetic head of the femur was implanted in 92 patients with medial fractures of the femoral neck. 15% of these patients died within the first 3 weeks after the operation, 21% within the first year after the operation. 26 patients could be followed-up.
