Contrast echocardiography and harmonic imaging (HI) are promising new modalities applied in order to obtain improved visualisation of the left ventricle. Perflenapent (EchoGen, Abbott) is a new generation echocardiographic contrast agent that crosses the pulmonary capillary bed and produces long-term ventricle opacification.
