Plasmatic homocysteine concentration depends mostly on 5,10 methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) polymorphisms, a key enzyme in folate metabolism. The most common point mutation C677T is associated to cardiovascular and neurological pathologies; its ethnic repartition is quite heterogenic.
